Overview
Cagrilintide is a long-acting amylin analogue currently being studied in combination with semaglutide (as 'CagriSema') for obesity treatment. Amylin is a hormone co-secreted with insulin that promotes satiety, slows gastric emptying, and reduces glucagon secretion. Cagrilintide's extended half-life allows for once-weekly dosing. In research trials, the combination of cagrilintide and semaglutide has shown additive and potentially synergistic weight loss effects, with phase 3 trials showing greater weight reduction than either agent alone. It represents a promising next frontier in multi-hormonal metabolic therapy beyond GLP-1 monotherapy.

Research information
Cagrilintide is a long-acting amylin analog currently being investigated for its role in metabolic regulation and weight management research. It is studied for its potential to influence satiety signaling pathways in experimental models. As a research-grade compound, its efficacy and safety profiles are still being established through preclinical and early-phase clinical studies.
